Die weltweite Produktion an Solarzellen ist im Jahr 2009 um 56 Prozent auf 12,3 Gigawatt gestiegen (2008 waren es 7,9 Gigawatt).
Dabei kommen 45 % der Module von den zehn größten Herstellern.
